"Beginning on a hickory on Fosgeys (sp?) line, between the branch that Stephen White formerly lived on and the branch that said Woodfin now lives on..." Witnesses: Enoch Underwood and James Long. Ackn June 1819 court registered 12 Jun 1820. Acreage not listed, but description suggests a rectangle. Likely 150ac.

1820 Apr 20. DB B p 440. Micajah Eastas to George Hatfiled. 50 ac on Scotts Creek. test: Peter (X) Long, Benjamin E. Hatfield. Proven Oct 1827 court.

1820s - from a regional history book: "John Bryson, Andy Cathy, Oliver Painter, Pete Long, Thos Henson, Manson Shuler, Hugh Bryson, Silas Watson, William Watson and Enoch Underwood had organized a subscription school near Cullowee to guarantee the salary of the teacher Zeke Shuler who had been hired to teach their 16 sons and daughters in a small log house owned by Major Hamilton Bryson."
