"After his tour of duty
in the Civil War, John went to Cumberland County KY where he
married and lived for six or seven years. He decided to go to
a place in Arkansas where he had been billeted while in the Union
army, but they got only as far as Gallatin, TN when their third
child was born. There they learned that Indiana had good schools,
so proceeded on to Rockville and Catlin, Parke County IN. In
his later years John lived in Terra Haute Vigo Co IN." Long
