Research Abstracts
Most of the ancient historical
and genealogical records of Ireland (including Northern Ireland)
were destroyed by fire at the Dublin Public Record Office in
the 1920s. Very few records survived. Most of the records available
for research today were those located at other locations at the
time or abstracted by historians prior to the fire.
The following abstracts were
sourced from primary research in Dublin Ireland in 2002. Researched:
National Library of Ireland, National Archives of Ireland, Registry
of Deeds, Genealogical Office
Note: This research ignored many
pre 15th century abstracts found primarily in published volumes,
concentrating only on later data.
Note: Dates used by the index
of Prerogative Wills may not be identical to the relevant Will
dated and abstracted by Betham or Thrifft. In other words, they
are likely one in the same person but different sources used
different dates found in the documents. The original documents
no longer exist.
