note: According to the approved DAR application dated 1939, this
Jennie Ticer is the daughter of a Lucy Dowdy and Augustine Ticer.
However, the application claims that this particular Lucy Dowdy
was the daughter of a William Dowdy who was killed by Tories
in Chatham County NC, and his wife Elizabeth Seabrook Bartlett.
This DAR application was given the number #315463 and cited application
#268032 and Son's of the Revolution papers of Dr. Voss Harrell,
Samuel Runnells Harrell, and Maurice Ticer Harrell. The website
editor has long believed these DAR applications contained flawed
lineages. For example, the heir at law of William Dowdy (killed
by Tories) was his brother Thomas Dowdy Jr. He had no wife or
children.
