1753 John Dowdey planter and wife Elizabeth of Culpeper to James Wilder of same 200 acres being remainder of tract conveyed to Dowdy from Peter Russell 1732 for 400 acres, 200 acres of which Dowdy sold to John Morphis. Wit: Robert Slaughter, John Field, W. Green, Francis Slaughter
1763 Deed between James Pendleton and Wm Bowen [?] mentions "Dowdy's Hog Branch" between branches of Muddy Run and Smell Run. Branch also mentioned in 1755 in St. Marks Parish
1766 Estate of Wm Johnston 1765-83. Long list of payments with exact date unknown of each payment. Recorde 1788 in Culpeper County...."payments to....Thomas Dowdey for keeping mill"...
