1811 - State of North Carolina , Tyrrell County Will Book 2, page 54 Dated 17 May 1811 DOWDY, WILLIAM- In the name of God amen: I William Dowdy of the County of Tyrrell and State of North Carolina being of sound and perfect mind and memory blessed be God do this seventeenth day of May 1811 make and publish this my last will and testament in manner following --- I lend to my beloved wife Sarah Dowdy during her widdowhood my land whereon I now live and the rest of my property to raise my children and fifty acres of land lies in Currituck County which is by deed to myself and John Dowdy which is to be sold for the benefit of schooling my children. I give to my son Joseph Dowdy at the decease of my wife my land whereon I now live and rest of my property to be equally divided between the rest of my children at the marriage of my wife or decease. 1820 - Summons - Front: To the sheriff of Tyrrel County … commanded to summon Richard Howett admr. of William Howett decd. Samuel Spruill admr. of Robart I. Pledger decd. and take the body of John Alexander … so that you have them before the Justices of our County Court of Pleas and Quarter-Sessions, at the next Court, to be held for this County of Tyrrel, at the Court-House in Columia, on the first Monday in July next; then and ther to answer unto Navel Carroon Grd. Of Wm. Dowdy heirs in a plea of debt that they rendered unto him the sum one hundred and three dollars and sixteen cents which they owes and from him an justly detains to his damage one hundred dollars. 4 April 1820. Issued the 24 day of June 1820. Jas. Wood, Clk. We do bind ourselves jointly and severally, to pay according to act of Assembly, in the defendant in this suit, all such costs and charges as shall be awarded against the plaintiff as witness our hands and seals. 1824 - State of Tennessee Williamson County Book 3, Page 757 Dated 3 November 1824 HASSELL, AMELIA - In the name of God, Amen. I, Amillian Hassell of the County of Williamson and state of Tennessee, calling to mind the uncertainty of this mortal life and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die and being in perfect mind and memory, I do make and ordain this my last will and Testament. And as touching my worldly estate which it hath pleased God to bless me with I do dispose of in the following manner and form. Item, I give to my daughter, Amillian Hassell two beds and furniture, one cow and calf, 1 trunk, one wheel and cards, I give to my daughter Affa Hassell, I give to my daughter Elizabeth Dowdy one dollar. I give to my daughter Meriah Alexander one dollar. And the balance of my estate I give to my three sons and daughter to be equally divided between them, Joseph Hassell, John Hassell, James Hassell and Amillian Hassell this third day of November Eighteen hundred and twenty four. 1825 - State of Tennessee Williamson County Court January Term 1825. The last will and Testament of Amillian Hassell, deceased, is published in open court and the execution thereof proven thus, Benjamin Leigh, a subscribing witness thereto…. Ordered that said will be recorded, and the said Amillian Hassell having failed to nominate and appoint an executor to said last will and Testament, and Joseph Dowdy having made application to this Court that he may be admitted to administer on said estate with the will annexed having given bond of one thousand dollars conditioned for the faithful administrations of said estate and execution of said last will and Testament with Moses E.
